The Three Ways That Good Design Makes You Happy

I recently came across this 2003 video by design critic Don Norman in Ted Talks and I thought it’d be wise to share it with you. Norman spends the bulk of this session talking about the importance of good design. While excellent usability is, of course, integral to the success of your product, interesting design is important, as well. As Norman states, “pleasant design works better”. He cites good examples of companies that have mastered the art of good design. Three things I liked about this video:

#1 It does not overwhelm the viewer with loads and loads of information, Norman takes just enough time to talk about the main topic of the video

#2 The speaker connects the viewer with the events of the real world- there are specific, relatable examples

#3 Norman talks about the psychology of designing which is an important part of effective design-work
